Come with me and explore the mystical, magical lore of the Blood Moon…….as this is a time when the nights are crisp and clear, and you can sense a change in the energy around you.

October’s Full Moon is the Hunter’s Moon. It is also called Travel Moon, Dying Grass Moon, and sometimes Blood Moon or Sanguine Moon.

Traditionally, this included hunting, slaughtering and preserving meats for use in the coming winter months.

You could take it to mean familial blood and perform a ritual to honor your ancestors … or a protection rite for your home and family or simply share a meal…or blood oaths… or blood magick.

Stones: Obsidian, amethyst, and tourmaline are all associated with Samhain and the October full moon; these are stones often connected to magic that protects us from evil or negative energies, as we stand in our own power at this time.

Sometimes in the last 10 days of October we get a Red Moon.

During a Blood Moon we experience a moment of union between the Goddess and God. It is a moment of great power and magic that must be experienced with enthusiasm. During a Blood Moon you can cast a spell to attract prosperity, so that energy flows like the blood that keeps us alive.

Blood Moon Ritual

need:
Your chalice;
Your athame;
4 candles
Red wine or juice
Your favourite incense.
During the night of the full October Blood Moon, trace the magic circle and stay in its center in a comfortable place. Put the 4 red candles so that they represent the 4 directions and the 4 elements. Light your favorite incense.
Fill your chalice with wine and dedicate it to the Goddess. Concentrate on the Blood Moon and let your mind connect with the energy of the moment.

Visualize the blood running through your body as you watch the Blood Moon. Feel the heat and the life that runs within you.
If outside (even better) Draw Down The Moon. Insert your athame in the chalice with wine and visualize the power of the God joining the power of the Goddess. Raise the chalice and say:
“The strength of the Goddess and the power of God flow within my body as well as my own strength represented in my blood. I am divine and I deserve all the energy of prosperity, of love and of satisfaction that there is in the world. So be it! “

This is a great time to burn any petition written on paper and anointed with your chosen magical oil.
Drink the wine or the juice and thank the Goddess and God.
This is the time of strong spined, ambient Crone Goddess/ Horned God. We are they, they are us. We… are the Witches of the Blood Moon.
