Antares Magick

Tonight – Moon Meets Antares

The crescent Moon drifts close to Antares, the glowing red heart of Scorpius. A nearby lunar companion side by side with a supergiant star 550 light-years away — silver and ember sharing the same sky.

Look southwest just after sunset, away from city lights, to catch this short-lived celestial duet.

A reminder that even across vast distances, the universe aligns to gift us moments of wonder.

Antares has a long history of magical and mundane astrological significance within the mythologies of ancient cultures the world over.

Agrippa explains that Antares talismans are beneficial for improving memory and intelligence, health and vigour as well as providing spiritual protection.

Agrippa’s 3 Books of Occult Philosophy:

Under the Heart of Scorpio they made the Figure of a Scorpion; it giveth understanding and memory, it maketh a good colour, and aideth against evil spirits, and driveth them away, and bindeth them.

Fire Magic: Antares was incredibly proficient at using fire magic. The flames he could generate were also so powerful that he could create massive explosions just by summoning a few streams of fire from his fingers and then slashing with his claws.

Antares is the component of the divine tetramorph initiating change and the metamorphosis of form life; in this sense its qualities are healing or destructive.

Antares is called a red supergiant due to its enormous size. Its diameter is 700 times larger than the Sun. This means that if Antares was located at the center of the solar system, it would extend to the orbit of Mars. However, the mass of Antares is between 12 and 18 times greater than that of the Sun.

Antares, also known as Alpha Scorpii, is the alpha, or brightest, star in the constellation Scorpius, and the 15th-brightest star in the whole night sky.

This fixed star is known for its transformative power, urging those under its influence to embrace change and face challenges head-on.

Bringing its magic to our lives can be “enlightening.”

This transformative power can manifest in various aspects of one’s life, pushing individuals to confront their deepest fears and desires.

By embracing the energy of Antares, one can find the strength to let go of old patterns or beliefs that no longer serve them, paving the way for personal growth and renewal.

Mesopotamian peoples associated Antares with the mother creator goddess Lisin and in some places saw it as the breast of the goddess Ishara, who is often depicted symbolically as a scorpion. Ishara was associated with oaths and divination, as well as the royal family in ancient Syria.

Ptolemy classified Antares as being of the nature of Mars and Jupiter combined. Its influence causes malevolence, destructiveness, but also broad-mindedness

Antares talismans are likewise specifically prescribed for protection against spiritual attacks, uncrossings, banishments and liberatory justice work. These talismans are also tied to increasing memory and intellgience.
